AUGH!!! I was wearing a rather bright pink shirt and the morning was well lit so why would I be the target of a hit and run!
So lets, start at the beginning. It was a very pretty morning and not a lot goin' on yet (it was 5:30 a.m.) Jaime and I are running and chatting when WHAM something hits me and lands at my feet. I didn't order anything. This other runner is so enthralled with Jaime that she doesn't notice me (Who happened to be closest to her). So I'm feeling awful and bend down to help her up, dust her off and pull her shirt down and she looks at me in pure shock and never says a word to me! What the golly Miss Molly, you stepped on me as you RAN into me! She crossed the street and looked for battle wounds meanwhile, I'm left with a scuff mark on my shoe and the upper part of my foot is feeling the hit. I would like to thank the 5 running with me that found humor is this experience and let me know it was NOT my fault-that she really DID hit me!
I must say though that even though this hit and run was on feet I was still a little skitterish to drive home. You never know what's lurking behind the next bend and there is always another bend in the road!

THANKS FOR THE POST! I have NEVER seen anything like that before and every time I think about it I start laughing. "What the heck?!" were the only words I could find. You totally could make a commercial out of it. "Running shoes....$85, Running shirt..$30, the look of a stunned runner after smaking into another...PRICELESS!" The look on her face was great, she didn't know what to think and she just looked at you so confused! I have always thought of you as being a solid runner but boy does that take on a whole new meaning now!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea how hard it is to run and laugh hard at the same time? Your breathing gets all messed up for some reason! That was the strangest thing I have ever seen running. I am thinking that was more of a "run and hit" than a "hit and run".
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I have to not even think about it cause it makes me laugh out loud every time I picture the deer in the headlights look. Way to go Shelli, only you could be the target of an early morning hit and run!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that I missed that! I could use a good laugh. Glad to hear you are okay and way to stay on your feet!
ReplyDeleteHey... if you;re going to get hat close and personal with a gal.. at least you could have introduced yourself! Hahaha
ReplyDeleteI laugh everytime I think about the confused look she had on her face as she walked across the street after getting back on her feet. This story will be told for years to come.
ReplyDeleteI just reread your story again-sitting alone at my kitchen table laughing out loud-too funny :) The other runner was kind of like a bird when they fly into a window, bounce off, shake their head and fly away again.
