Running Quote

In the midst of life, running is the touchstone that breathes adventure into my soul. Running reminds me that there is more to me than what is readily apparent much of the time. I don't always need to see it but I need to know it's. . .there. Like having an alter ego or a super-hero identity. Kristin Armstrong, author . . .and runner

2010 Cable Bridge Run

A few of us ran the Cable Bridge run on December 18th. It was cold, snowing and so much fun. Sorry we didn't get a picture of Sarah and Matt. There are a lot of runners in this race and we never saw them again once the race started. Some of us planned on running the 10k but dropped to the 5k due to lots of snow on the roads. Fun way to spend the Saturday before Christmas! Happy Trails Shiny Pennies!

Welcome 2011.....Off To A Running Start!

Ahhh 2011 is already shaping up to be a great year. A few of us hit the pavement this morning in the annual New Year's Day Run in Hermiston. Temps were about 12 degrees but it ended up being a well worth it run. I can't speak for everyone but I look forward to being out on the streets again racking up the miles. Winter is hard on running, there have been days that we've been forced indoors to the treadmill and we've even been desperate enough to do 48 laps around the RAC gym just to get some miles in. Hope all my fellow teammates had a safe an happy New Year's weekend. The relay race will be here before we know it!

A 10 miler with friends in our winter "outfits"

A few of the Shiny Pennies got together with 2 newcomers. Welcome Sherry and Crystal! Jan is behind the camera. We ran the new Airport Road and concluded the hills are just as hard in the cold as they were in the heat of summer! Hills are hills. It was so good to be together again. Several of us will be together in December to run the Cable Bridge run in Pasco, Washington. A very festive Christmas run.
Happy trails!

Great day at the races!

We had a wonderful day together at the Walla Walla Crush. We all did the 5K and ran our li ttle hearts out. The weather was heavenly, the company was great and the course was tough. Lots of hills but that makes for a great feeling of satifaction when you finish. We had a few new girls with us this time. Jennifer and Robyn, hope you had a good time!
I feel a deep sense of gratitude for my many blessings this morning and all of you Shiny Pennies are an important part of those blessings. Keep running!

Time to rock and roll!

Yahoo, tomorrow is the Walla Walla Crush!
One of my two favorite races of the year. I am so looking forward to being with you that are going to run tomorrow. Let's go have a good time, do our best, enjoy our good health, the beautiful scenery as we run through the vineyards and the company of great people. Ain't life grand?
Happy trails,
