Red Robin!

We're Here

We made it in one piece! We almost lost some luggage just as we were leaving Pendleton, but we pulled over and fixed the issue. Getting ready to head to dinner soon, then back to decorate the vans!

Off to the races!

We finished our last training run this afternoon and we are ready to go. Everyone is busy packing, preparing vehicles, bikes and our families that we are leaving at home. We have worked hard and have experienced blood, sweat and tears as well as laughter and a great sense of accomplishment in our preparations. Thank you to the great community of Pendleton for being so supportive. I have mixed feelings tonight. I am excited, anxious, nervous for the race but part of me is sad for the training to be over. I will miss the fun we have had preparing and the group runs we have gone on. What a great bunch of women I have had the privilege of associating with. Now all we can do is go out and do our individual best and work together as a team to have a positive experience. Sister Pennies, let's go out there and live up to our name and SHINE!
Happy trails

Famous running quotes

"It is the runner in me who understands that the beauty of my body is in the things it can do, not the way it looks doing them. The runner in me is grateful for strong legs to carry me across finish lines. It is the runner in me who can make peace with her body and the passage of time."

Kristin Armstrong

True to the End

I went to Wal Mart this morning to look for some bike lights, and on my way out I saw a penny underneath the back of a parked car. Well of course I couldn't leave it, but my hands were full of groceries so I instructed my 4 year old to crawl under the back of the car and grab it. She refuses, stressing out because she might get run over. So, I set my groceries down and pick it up. But guess what, there are two more pennies even further under the car! Once again I ask Ashtyn to get them and she says, "no mom, let's just wait for the car to leave." I told her never mind and went and put her and the groceries into the car. But that nagging feeling just wouldn't go away, so like a dork, I get on my hands and knees and first crawl under the passenger side of the car and get one penny, it's then that I realize I can't reach the other penny from the passenger side so I go over to the drivers side and get down on my hands and knees again, and get the 3rd penny. I think I am supposed to be an adult but I don't think adults are supposed to crawl on their hands and knees in the Wal Mart parking lot for pennies! Oh well, we are 3 cents richer now.

Night training!

A few of us ran last night after dark. I personally have lost the touch. We run in the dark all winter and last night I discovered that is not very comfortable after a summer of running in the beautiful sunny summer mornings. I think I need to do a little more night running practice before the race. It is now race week, no more training just a few short runs and we head out for S2S on Thursday. Go Team Shiny Penny Syndrome!
